Holiday Shortbread Recipe
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 egg white
- 1/2 cup almonds, sliced
- 1/4 cup colored sugar
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13×9 inch baking pan.
- In large bowl, combine butter and granulated sugar. Beat with electric mixer on low speed until creamy.
- Add flour; mix well. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla extract. Spread into baking pan.
- In small bowl, beat egg white until foamy. Spread on top of dough. Sprinkle with almonds and colored sugar.
- Bake 25 minutes or until light brown. Cool and cut in squares.
Makes 16 Cookies
Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Bake Time: 25 Minutes
Total Time: 40 Minutes
